House District 106: Greg Holcomb

“Education is the cornerstone to success in today’s society, whether it be in the classroom or through training. We must have a quality public education system to create a competitive workforce that encourages economic development in our state. To do this, the Legislature must provide our public schools a steady, predictable and adequate amount of yearly funding and stop passing the responsibility on to our local home and business owners to make up the shortfall.”

A native of Lamar County, Greg Holcomb graduated from Lumberton High School. He earned an Associate of Arts degree from Pearl River Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law.

Holcomb practices law in Pearl River and Lamar counties, providing services of a general civil practice. As a small-town attorney, he sees first-hand the struggles community members endure every day and the need for strong, selfless representation in the Legislature.

Holcomb is very involved in his community and volunteers his time as board attorney for the Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Poplarville Athletic Association. He serves as chairman of Movies on Main for the Chamber of Commerce, which shows free family movies to the public throughout the year, and is president of the Pearl River County Bar Association. Holcomb is a member of several organizations including the PRCC Alumni Association, the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Council of School Board Attorneys (CSBA). He is a deacon at First Baptist Church of Poplarville and coaches Dixie Youth tee ball and baseball for the Poplarville Area Athletic Association.

Holcomb is married to the former Christina Hopson of Woodville, an assistant district attorney for the 15thCircuit Court district. The couple lives in Poplarville with their two daughters, Lily (8) and Caroline (5).
