Senate District 4: Greg Ward

A native of Tippah County, Greg Ward graduated from Ripley High School. He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Mississippi State University.

Ward is a farmer, retired small-business owner, and former educator and coach, and he previously served in the Mississippi House of Representatives for 12 years. While in office, he was appointed to the following legislative committees: Agriculture (chair), Appropriations, County Affairs, Education, Public Property and Transportation. He was selected by the Speaker of the House to serve on the PEER (Performance Evaluation and Expenditure Review) Committee from 2008 to 2012.

An involved community leader, Ward serves on the board of the Tippah County Hospital and is a member of the Lions Club.

He was married to his late wife of 46 years, Judy Orman Ward, who taught first grade in the public school system for 25 years. He has three adult children, Stephanie Clifton, Stacie Holloway and Kelly Ward, who all graduated from Ripley High School, and eight grandchildren who currently attend or have graduated from the public school system. Ward’s hobbies include gardening, maintaining a small cattle business, and attending sporting events or theater productions involving his grandchildren.
