House District 53: Rita Wilkinson Goss

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

A native of Brookhaven, Rita Goss graduated from West Lincoln Attendance Center and received an associate’s degree in data processing from Copiah Lincoln Community College. In 2015, Goss earned a Mississippi Collector of Revenue certification at Mississippi State University.

An account manager at Gulf Guaranty Insurance, Goss previously served as Lincoln County tax assessor and collector from 2012 to 2016. Before that, she spent several years as a teacher’s assistant at Mamie Martin Elementary School and as a substitute teacher at West Lincoln Attendance Center, learning first-hand the issues that teachers face. 

Goss is an active member of Gum Grove Baptist Church, is involved with West Lincoln Future Farmers of America Alumni and is a Make-A-Wish volunteer. She and her husband, Kenneth, have a daughter, Emily, who graduated from West Lincoln Attendance Center and is a student at Mississippi State University, studying to become a fine arts teacher.
