House District 29: Abe Hudson

"Public Education is so near and dear to me because both my parents have worked in the education field for sixty combined years in various capacities. Therefore, I personally understand, up close and personal, the pressures and challenges that exist. As a first term legislator, my goal was to help take away the barriers that allow educators, administrators, and school boards to effectively execute their local plans. Furthermore, I think our educators deserve a “real pay raise” that is commensurate with the work they perform. "

A native of the Mississippi Delta, Representative Abe M. Hudson, Jr. graduated from T.L. Weston High School in Greenville, Mississippi. After graduation, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he received a BSBA in marketing. Hudson then earned two master's degrees, an MBA and a MSBA in finance, from Mississippi State University. Currently, he is pursuing a doctorate in urban and regional planning from Jackson State University.

Hudson was employed with Delta State University's College of Business for more than five years. He was a visiting professor in the management and marketing department for one year. Subsequently, he became program director for the DEBTS program, where he supported entrepreneurial growth in the Mississippi Delta for four years.

Currently, Hudson owns two businesses, Abe Hudson Consulting Services and Real Delta Tours and Artistry. Because entrepreneurship is so near and dear to Hudson’s heart, he operates a co-working space in downtown Cleveland, Mississippi. So far, 12 businesses have utilized the space to expand their businesses.

Hudson has been a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. for more than 20 years. He and his wife, Adrienne, live in Shelby, Mississippi, with their daughter, Abee Miranda.
