House District 75: Tom Miles

"The very foundation of the success of a community rests in the success of its public schools. I am a strong advocate of public schools and our teachers, administrators and every person whose work serves to help our children succeed in life. It is time that we make the changes necessary to let our teachers teach and give our students the kind of well-rounded educational experience they deserve by eliminating unnecessary standardized testing."

A native of Scott County, Representative Tom Miles graduated from Morton High School and received an Associate of Arts degree from Hinds Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mississippi State University. A self-employed business owner and public education advocate, he has served in the Mississippi House of Representatives since 2012 and is a member of the following legislative committees: Accountability, Efficiency, Transparency; Energy; Public Health; and Tourism.

Miles is involved with several civic and community organizations including the Chambers of Commerce for Morton, Forest and Rankin counties; the Scott County Search and Rescue Dive Team; and Friends of Roosevelt State Park, where he serves as chairman of the board. Additionally, he is a member of Forest Baptist Church and teaches Sunday school each week.
